It gives you a lot of flexibility in terms of lighting options, too. You get three different lighting levels (maximum, optimum, and economic) and two beam options (flood and spot) for short- and long-range illumination. Plus, if you really need to see what's making that growling noise way up ahead on the trail, it features a boost mode that increases output to 40 lumens for a 160-foot range beam (boost mode automatically shuts off after 20 seconds to conserve energy).
